What Are Amorphous Material Patterns in The First Descendant?

The First Descent has several confusing materials; the most confusing of all is the Amorphous Material. These Amorphous Material patterns are numbered anywhere from 000 to 999. They are even associated with some resources or materials when you look at the Void Intercept battle. So, what exactly are the Amorphous Materials in the First Descent?

The first offspring of amorphous materials

After completing a few actions, you may be awarded an amorphous material pattern with a specific number written on the item. You can think of these amorphous materials as free “loot boxes” that you must open. The components or materials in their description are the items and their drop rates.

You’ll see some very familiar specific names in the material ingredients. Some blueprints are materials to craft or research other Descendants so you can unlock them. For example, the image above has the “Lepic Helix Catalyst Blueprint”. Lepic is an unlockable Descendant in the game, and you need this blueprint to unlock and research materials to get Lepic. You may also see a small icon with a Descendant’s face on the item.

The numbers on the amorphous material pattern correspond to the materials you can find in it. If you want to grow a specific offspring, you need to get all the materials for it, and you should remember the amorphous material pattern number you need to get.

After you obtain these Amorphous Material Patterns through Operations or other activities, you still need to open them. Each Amorphous Material Pattern is associated with a specific Void Interception Battle. You can open the World Map and view the Void Interception Battles in the lower left corner of the map.

Go through each boss and look for “Linked Amorphous Material Pattern” in the Void Interceptor fight description. Amorphous Material Patterns in your inventory will appear here with a tick. You can tick all bosses, and if you tick any Amorphous Material Patterns, you should do the boss fight to open them.

Luck plays a big role here, as you can see in the drop rates of each material under the amorphous material pattern. If you don’t want to rely on luck, you can buy some Calibers and Descendants from the in-game store.
