Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The next game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is being produced by Square Enix and is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. It is the sequel to 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake and the second part of a planned trilogy of games that retells the story of the 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII.

Similar to its predecessor, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth blends action, strategy, and role-playing elements. It continues the story after the events of the remake, with players controlling mercenary Cloud Strife and his friends from the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE. Their goal is to stop the megacorporation Shinra from using the life force of planets (called Lifestream) as a power source. They must also defeat the powerful enemy Sephiroth, who seeks to gain more power by merging with planets.

Development on the game began in November 2019, even before the release of the remake, and was officially announced in June 2022. Many of the people involved in the development of the remake are also involved in this game, with Tetsuya Nomura serving as creative director and Naoki Hamaguchi as director.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second game in the series and tells the story of the original Final Fantasy VII game from 1997. The story takes place after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020), when the protagonists have escaped from the large city of Midgar.

In the game, the player mainly controls a man named Cloud Strife. He used to work for a company called Shinra, but now he joins a group called Avalanche to fight against Shinra because they are harming Earth. They also have to deal with a powerful enemy named Sephiroth, who is believed to be dead.

The game’s exploration and combat all happen in real time. The world is more open than before, with markers showing where to go for the main story or side quests. You can walk or ride Chocobos (large birds) to travel faster.

Combat consists of quick melee attacks and the use of special abilities and magic. You can switch between different characters during combat and use items to heal or attack. There is also a new feature called “Synergy” where characters can team up for more powerful attacks, although their abilities take longer to recharge.

Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth follows the story of its predecessor Final Fantasy VII Remake, but reimagines the plot, world, and characters from the original Final Fantasy VII game. The game is set on a planet called “The Planet” and focuses on the protagonist’s journey to overthrow the powerful Shinra Electric Power Company.

Shinra uses the planet’s life force, the Lifestream, to control the city of Midgar. The main goal of the characters is to stop Sephiroth, a powerful soldier thought dead, from summoning meteors to harm the planet and gain divine power.

The protagonist is Claude Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit who now works as a mercenary for the eco-terrorist organization AVALANCHE. He is joined by the group’s fearless leader, Barret Wallace, and Claude’s childhood friend, martial arts master Tifa Lockhart.

Other important characters include Aerith Gainsborough, the last survivor of ancient Cetra, Red XIII, an intelligent creature captured by Shinra, and Yuffie Kisaragi, a genius magic stone thief and ninja. Players will also meet characters such as Aerith’s ex-boyfriend Zack Fair and Vincent Valentine, a former Turk who was experimented on by Shinra.

The story is enriched by supporting characters such as Cait Sith, controlled by Shinra’s Reeve Tuesti, and Cid Highwind, a determined pilot with a passion for space flight. These characters, along with new characters like Bugenhagen and Elena, add depth to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s immersive narrative.
