What happened to Boyd in Last Man Standing?

Boyd, the first grandchild of Mike and Vanessa in Last Man Standing, disappeared from the show after Season 8, and showrunner Kevin Abbott has revealed why. Boyd was played by different actors over the seasons, and was last seen at the gender reveal party in Season 8. The decision to make Boyd disappear was made because the show had a large cast, and it was difficult to give each character a meaningful storyline.

The focus shifted to Ryan and Kristen’s parenting story, and there weren’t many new ideas for Boyd’s character. The show aimed to avoid controversial storylines involving Boyd and keep Ryan and Kristen together. Hence, the choice was made to follow the “Everybody Loves Raymond” model, where certain characters are mentioned but not shown, leaving the storyline to change.
