Black Clover is a series created by Japanese manga artist Yuki Tabata. The story takes place in a magical world where everyone has magical abilities. The protagonist Asta is special because he was born without any magical powers. Despite this, he receives a rare magic book that grants him anti-magic abilities. Asta and his fellow Black Bulls aspire to become the Magic King.
The manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015, before moving to Jump Giga in December 2023, with 35 volumes published by June 2023. Adaptations included an original video anime in 2017 and a 170-episode anime series that aired from October 2017 to March 2021. An animated film, Black Clover: Sword of the Magic King, premiered in June 2023. The series is licensed in North America by Viz Media for the manga and by Crunchyroll for the anime.
Black Clover Plot
Black Clover centers on Asta and Yuno, an orphan with no magic but extraordinary physical strength, and Yuno, his friend who is a magic genius. Both dream of becoming the magic king of the Clover Kingdom. Yuno obtains a rare four-leaf magic book, while Asta, though without magic, obtains a unique five-leaf magic book with anti-magic power. They join different magic knight teams, Asta joins the Black Bulls and Yuno joins the Golden Dawn, and begin their adventure.
