About Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a 2023 superhero film starring Jason Momoa as the DC Comics character Aquaman. Directed by James Wan, the film is a sequel to the 2018 Aquaman film and the final installment in the DC Extended Universe. The storyline revolves around Aquaman teaming up with his half-brother Orm, played by Patrick Wilson, to thwart the plans of the villain Black Manta (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).
As Black Manta sets out to wreak chaos with his dangerous trident, the characters embark on a journey to find a lost underwater kingdom. The story idea for the sequel was proposed by Jason Momoa during the production of the first film. The sequel was directed by James Wan and carefully developed with a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
Filming took place in locations including the United Kingdom, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. The film premiered on December 19, 2023, and officially opened in the United States on December 22. Despite its high anticipation, the film did not receive positive reviews from critics.
