Plot summary of Mr. Bates and the Post Office·······
The TV series Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office tells the true and disturbing story of a corrupted computer system that caused problems for a British branch postmaster. This flawed IT system created a perception that there was not enough money, resulting in many deputy postmasters being falsely accused of fraud, theft and false accounting.
In 2009, a group of deputy postmasters came together to form the Deputy Postmasters Justice League. They believe they have been wrongly accused and want to fight for justice. The series follows the struggles and challenges these men face as they try to prove their innocence.

At the heart of the story is the 2019 judicial case Bates v Post Office Ltd (No. 3). The legal battle ultimately declared the prosecution of the deputy postmaster to be a miscarriage of justice. Alan Bates’ actual post office in Llandudno was recreated at St David’s Hospice Charity, adding to the authenticity of the drama. Filming also took place in Kent, specifically in Tuatsfield on the border of Surrey and Kent. Director James Strong praised the picturesque villages and scenery of Kent for providing a fitting backdrop for the quintessential English country town where many deputy postmasters were stationed.
