Who is Nishad Kumar? Athlete Wins Silver Medal in Men’s High Jump

Nishad Kumar has been in great form recently, winning a silver medal in the men’s T-47 high jump at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, with a jump of 2.04 meters. The event was held on September 1, 2024, and this is his second Paralympic medal. He also won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with a jump of 2.06 meters.

Tellingly, despite being 24, he still competes in the T-47 class, which requires athletes to have a “unilateral arm disability.” In Paris, he finished third behind American Roderick Townsend, who cleared 2.12 meters. Russian Georgy Magiyev took bronze with 2.00 meters.

However, Kumar said he was disappointed not to win a gold medal in this competition, especially considering he had been practicing in training and even jumped 2.10 meters.
