Heaven’s myth
Ragnarok is a Norwegian fantasy TV series available on Netflix that reinterprets Norse mythology in a modern way. The story takes place in the fictional Norwegian town of Edda in Hordaland, where environmental problems and industrial pollution caused by the Joutur family’s factory have had a serious impact. Unbeknownst to the townspeople, the Jötnar are actually four supernatural beings known as the Jötnar.

Teenager Magni discovers that he is the reincarnation of the Norse God of Thunder, Thor, and after the mysterious death of his friend, he decides to take on the town’s vandals himself. Season two introduces more characters embodying the Norse gods, joining Magni’s fight. The series is Netflix’s third Norwegian-language production and originally premiered in January 2020, with a second season launching in May 2021.

It is produced by Danish company SAM Productions. Herman Tømmeraas, who plays Fjor, confirmed that the show will return for a third and final season in November 2021, with the third season set to be released on August 24, 2023.
Will there be a Ragnarok season 4 on Netflix?
No, Netflix has confirmed that season three marks the final chapter of the series, concluding the Ragnarok storyline. Earlier this year, Netflix officially confirmed that Ragnarok would be returning for a third season, marking the end of the fantasy series. In a statement, Netflix hinted at an epic final battle between gods and giants that will provide the ultimate test of Magne’s resilience.
Fortunately, Season 3 ends with a satisfying ending that avoids the frustration of unresolved storylines, a similar fate that has befallen other Netflix series like The Society and Santa Clarita Diet 》.
Considering the logical conclusion of Ragnarok’s three-season narrative arc, it seems unlikely that it would start an entirely new storyline with existing characters from the first eighteen episodes. However, there is still the possibility of a spin-off, possibly a feature-length film or a new series exploring different characters from the rich realm of Norse mythology.

Given that SAM Productions, the company behind the show, is a Norwegian company, it’s more likely that they’ll continue to delve deeper into Norse mythology rather than risking a completely different narrative. As of now, there’s no indication that a fourth season or any ongoing Ragnarok projects are in the works.

What happened in Ragnarok Season 3?
As the final season of Ragnarok draws to a close, Magni unleashes the full potential of his warhammer, unsettling the Jaturians and violating their truce. Elsewhere, Fjöll pressures Laurits to breed the Midgardian Serpent, a power that could end Magne’s life.
In addition to his divine powers, Magni also seeks legal means to fight against the giants or Jutur. However, when they killed his witness Marit, he became enraged and began to terrorize them, including Feyo and Lan, with his powerful hammer.
Fearing for their lives, the Jatur tried to separate Magnar from his hammer. Although Saxa successfully charmed him, she allowed him to keep his hammer to gain an advantage over Lan and Feyo.
When the hammer finally fell into Feyjo’s hands with the help of Little O and Lauritz, Magni joined the other gods in waging war against the Joutul to reclaim Mjolnir. The Joutul people had no choice but to participate in the conflict. However, just before the battle began, Magnar intervened, emphasizing the futility of the Joutul’s struggle against Mjolnir’s power.

Subsequently, gods and giants alike were spared further bloodshed, and the Jaturians embraced the concept of a new world order. This new order includes a cleaner, less polluted Ada. After Fjor steps down, Saxa becomes the company’s CEO.
A major development in the Ragnarok season 3 finale was the reunion of Sigourney and Magne. Despite the misunderstanding between them and Magne’s involvement with Sachs, Sigourney gives him one last chance to prove himself, which he accepts wholeheartedly. As a result, the fantasy superhero series brings a satisfying resolution to the plot without leaving the audience with anything unsatisfactory.

Why was Ragnarok canceled?
Netflix officially announced on June 15, 2023, that the third season of “Ragnarok” will mark the end of the show. Netflix emphasized the importance of this conclusion in a statement, saying that “everything has led up to this” and that Magni’s resilience is stretched to its limits as the epic battle between gods and giants approaches.
It seems that from the beginning, the plan for Ragnarok was to end after three seasons. The narrative arc has been building steadily toward a climax with the showdown with the Jutu family, so it’s hard to imagine this particular conflict extending beyond next season.
