Discover Tanks WOW Season Tier List
In World of Warcraft’s Season of Exploration, there is a list that ranks tanks, called the Tank Tier List. This list can help players understand which classes and feats are strong at tanking. This is important because Season of Discovery changes the way the game works, so different classes have new opportunities to become great tanks. Thanks to the new abilities of the rune carving system, some classes that haven’t traditionally tanked now have the opportunity to do so. Classes such as shaman, warlock, and rogue can take on tanking roles for the first time.
This list looks at things like a class’s ability to create threat (which means drawing the enemy’s attention) in single-target situations and when dealing with large numbers of enemies (called AoE or Area of Effect). It also takes into account their ability to survive in difficult situations. This list ranks each class and shows how they perform in the new level 25 raids and dungeons.

Discover Tanks Season Roles Explained
During Season of Discovery, tanks are divided into different tiers based on their strength and capabilities.
Druid (S level)
The top layer, the S layer, is occupied by druids, who are known for their superior survivability. They are further enhanced by the Survival of the Fittest rune, which significantly reduces incoming damage, especially in bear form. Their rend ability also increases threat generation, making them an effective tanking option overall.
Warrior (A level)
Warriors, positioned in the A-tier, historically powerful tanks, received buffs to address their weaker threat generation. The Furious Thunder leg rune significantly increases threat by 50%, while the Victory Charge in the gauntlet slot provides instant healing. They have a variety of damage buffing runes specific to specific encounters, maintaining their competitive status among tanks.
Paladin (A level)
Also an A-level paladin, he participated in the debate between the eternal paladin and the holy warrior. With buffs like Aegis Rune, Amplified Block Value, and Divine Sacrifice that provide emergency party damage redirection, they stand strong. Hand of Reckoning and Crusader Strike help generate threat, making them powerful tanks.
Warlocks and Shamans (Tier B)
Due to the early limitations of rune carving, Warlocks and Shamans are new to tanks and fall into Tier B. The Warlock is a stronger choice at B level, benefiting from shapeshifting, increased armor, threat generation, and mana gained from abilities. Shaman, while still needing late-game play to reach its potential, has demonstrated the promise and utility of the Earth Path runes through its totems and new runes.
Rogue (Level C)

C-level rogues have tanking abilities but face complexity and relatively low rewards. Abilities like Dodge and Evil Strike help reduce damage, but maintaining rotation, especially using Sword Dance to reduce damage, proves complicated. Despite having skills like Flesh Wounds and Major Wounds, they require careful management but are less rewarding than other tanks.
World of Warcraft Classic
World of Warcraft Classic Edition is a special version of the famous MMORPG game created by Blizzard Entertainment. It’s like a time machine, taking players back to the original form of the game as it was before any expansions were added. This means it captures the game exactly as it was before the release of the Burning Crusade expansion.
World of Warcraft Classic was announced in 2017 and released globally on August 26, 2019, running concurrently with the main version of the game, providing players with the opportunity to relive the early days of World of Warcraft. It’s a nostalgia trip for new and returning players alike, offering the original gameplay, quests, and worlds that made World of Warcraft so beloved when it first came out.
In this release, players can explore Azeroth as originally designed without the need for changes or enhancements introduced in subsequent expansions. That means experiencing the original zones, dungeons, and challenges just as they were when the game launched.
