10 Best MCU Superhero Costumes

The Marvel Cinematic Universe had some amazing superhero costumes in 2024, adding to the long list of live-action adaptations of comic book suits that have shined on the big and small screens, and some of them did so brighter than the rest. The original Avengers have led a few of the best movies in the MCU and also wore some of the best costumes the franchise has seen. However, they were not the only characters to get comic book-accurate costumes.

2024 was a good year for the shared universe in that regard, with the MCU’s only movie of 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, offering some exciting superhero costumes that fans had long wanted to see in a live-action movie or series. As is the nature of superhero franchises, all MCU movies and series have featured a superhero costume of some sort, and here are the very best of them in no specific order.

Captain America’s Modern Suit With Scales

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

To start the list is already a heavy hitter that makes a good case for being among the MCU’s top five superhero costumes. Chris Evans’ Captain America is one of the most important characters in the MCU, with the hero appearing in at least one movie every year from 2011 to 2019. With Chris Evans cast in Avengers: Doomsday, Steve Rogers could return with a new superhero costume.

As the character stands now, Captain America’s Avengers: Endgame suit is easily one of his best looks in the MCU. Fans had long asked Marvel Studios to delve into Cap’s comic book history and include scales on his suit. It was the perfect way to keep the MCU’s more modern design for Captain America while incorporating one of the most iconic elements of his suit, and Evans pulled off the look.

Wolverine’s Yellow And Blue Costume

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Close

The best superhero suit to come out of any live-action superhero adaptation in 2024, be it the MCU or another franchise, has to belong to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The actor first played Logan way back in 2000’s X-Men. Despite being a constant presence in Fox’s X-Men movies, appearing in two different timelines of X-Men movies and leading the Wolverine trilogy, Jackman never wore the character’s iconic suit at Fox.

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

In his very first MCU appearance, things changed. Deadpool & Wolverine finally saw Hugh Jackman wear Wolverine’s classic yellow and blue costume from the comics. The character sported both a version of the suit with sleeves and without them. Near the end of the film, Jackman’s Wolverine pulled down his cowl to complete the comic book-accurate look, which was one of the most beloved aspects of the film.

8

Scarlet Witch’s Halloween Costume

WandaVision (2021)

Close

Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff is another MCU character who has had quite a few exciting costumes in the franchise. In her only project as a lead, WandaVision, the Scarlet Witch had multiple suits that landed well with fans. However, one of her looks was notably the one that rose above the rest. Despite it not being a costume meant to fight crime, Olsen’s best Scarlet Witch costume comes from WandaVision‘s Halloween episode.

The reason for that is that the suit is a direct homage to Scarlet Witch’s classic Marvel Comics costume. Adding to it, the red on the suit pops, and Olsen looks great with Scarlet Witch’s iconic headpiece. Another suit of hers that almost entered the list is the Scarlet Witch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness costume, which was darker and twisted due to her villain turn.

7

Iron Man Mark III

Iron Man (2008)

Close

Robert Downey Jr. first played Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man. The actor would stay in the MCU until 2019’s Avengers: Endgame — before returning in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday as Doctor Doom — which allowed Stark Tech to be developed over the years in the MCU. Iron Man’s armors started out as more simple constructs, with his final suits being way more technologically advanced. That meant incorporating nanotechnology.

Iron Man’s advanced suits were exciting, and they mostly looked great. However, nothing can compare to a suit he wore in the past. Marvel Studios managed to achieve gold with its first film, which also debuted the very best Iron Man armor in the MCU. The red and gold combination is classic Iron Man, and the suit had the slimmer look of the hero in the comics compared to Stark’s first armor. The Iron Man Mark III armor looked real.

6

Captain America’s Stealth Suit

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Close

Chris Evans’ second Captain America costume is one the MCU has made one of the hero’s most beloved suits in any media. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the standard for what a grounded thriller needs to look like in the MCU. It is a darker kind of Marvel movie, with Captain America and other characters not knowing who to trust. Steve Rogers needed a suit to match that tone.

It stands as a costume that still proudly displays his Sentinel of Liberty persona while also adding a sense of danger and mystery to the character.

Captain America’s stealth suit is the perfect shade of dark blue and white. It stands as a costume that still proudly displays his Sentinel of Liberty persona while also adding a sense of danger and mystery to the character. Perfect for covert missions, Evans’ Captain America would pull it out of storage in Avengers: Endgame when the team went after Thanos, and Thor ended up killing the villain.

Spider-Man’s Final Swing Suit

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Close

Spider-Man is the most popular Marvel character in any medium. The hero has countless different costumes in the comics, offering every fan a different one to call their favorite. In the MCU, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man wears a homemade suit, a modern red and blue suit, a red and black version of Spidey’s costume, “Night Monkey’s” black ops uniform, the MCU’s Iron Spider variant, and more.

However, the best MCU Spider-Man costume has only appeared briefly in the franchise. Without access to Stark Tech anymore, Peter Parker went back to basics and knitted a new Spider-Man costume. This is Holland’s most exciting superhero suit, which is seen in motion during Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s final swing sequence, showing off Spidey’s classic red and blue design with a bigger spider symbol and no excessive MCU lines.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Team Uniforms

Guardian Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

Close

Before leaving the MCU to become one of the CEOs of DC Studios and lead the new DC Universe, James Gunn directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In many ways, the film is the best entry in the Marvel trilogy. One of the biggest ways in which Gunn’s final Guardians of the Galaxy movie stands out from the other two and the team’s holiday special is related to the superhero costumes it introduces.

James Gunn’s Superman movie trailer has been released.

For the first time in the MCU franchise, the Guardians of the Galaxy wear matching team uniforms. More than that, they come directly from the comics. While they are not form-fitting like most superhero costumes tend to be, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 team uniforms are a work of art. The red and blue combo works wonders. It is a great homage to the comics and cements that the team went from strangers to family.

3

Deadpool’s MCU Costume

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Close

If Wolverine got his 2024 costume on the list, then so does the other half of Deadpool & Wolverine‘s beloved duo. Ryan Reynolds fought Fox to wear a comic book-accurate Deadpool costume in the hero’s solo movies after playing a botched version of Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It worked out, as Fox gave Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth perfectly comics-accurate suits in his two Deadpool movies at the studio.

Deadpool & Wolverine mostly kept what worked, but the MCU somehow found ways to improve what was already a near-perfect design. For his MCU debut, Deadpool’s new costume has a brighter tone of red that makes him pop in every scene the Merc With a Mouth is in. The leather material is gone for a sleeker look, the black cuts the red better, and the eyes are even more expressive in the MCU movie.

2

Moon Knight & Mr. Knight

Moon Knight (2022)

Close

Oscar Isaac’s MCU superhero is the only one who gets the chance to have two superhero suits in a single entry. The reason for that is simple. Not only do the two look fantastic, but each one is tied to a different personality of the character. Disney+’s Moon Knight did a fantastic job of making Marc Spector and Steven Grant — and later Jake Lockley — feel like two very different and real characters despite both being played by Isaac.

To honor the differences between them, Marc Spector got a more battle-ready costume while Steven Grant donned a more sophisticated look. The MCU came up with a variation of Moon Knight’s classic costume for Marc that was based on his Egyptian ties, with the same bandages used to wrap mummies. Steven wore the classic Mr. Knight suit from Marvel Comics, a full white business look.

1

Gambit’s Iconic Marvel Comics Attire

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Close

Finally, the last suit on the list makes it three entries for Deadpool & Wolverine. After a decade of trying to play his favorite superhero in live-action, Channing Tatum debuted as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor has revealed that had Fox’s plans for a solo movie featuring him as Remy LeBeau had worked out, he would not have worn Gambit’s classic X-Men costume.

While seeing Tatum lead a Gambit movie would have been exciting, his MCU role allowed the actor to play the character in his ultimate form. Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Gambit costume was comic book-accurate from his toes to his head. Tatum had Gambit’s long brown coat, purple chest plate, headpiece, and more. With Tatum said to be in talks to return as Gambit, one of the MCU’s best superhero costumes could return soon.
