another eden

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time is a free role-playing video game. It was produced by Wright Flight Studios. What makes this game special is the collaboration between two well-known creators, screenwriter Masato Kato and composer Yasunori Mitsuda. Both men have worked on other popular role-playing games, such as the Xenogears and Chrono series.

The game takes time travel as its theme, allowing players to explore different moments in time. It was first launched in Japan in April 2017 for Android and iOS devices. This was followed by a global launch in 2019. A version for Microsoft Windows has been released in 2021, and a version for Nintendo Switch is also in development. The game’s story, music, and ability to travel through time make it unique and fun for players who enjoy role-playing games.

Another Eden game

Another Eden offers a different gameplay than typical mobile games. Despite being on the GREE platform, it doesn’t focus as much on social interaction or daily login rewards as many other games focus on. It is free to play, but in-game items can be purchased within the app. The game has a rich main story with 84 chapters and counting.

In the game, players can travel through three main time periods: past, present, and future. The gameplay mostly feels like a side-scrolling Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), but at times, it opens up to full 3D action. You control a character, moving them between locations and interacting with non-player characters to progress the story.

When it comes to combat, they are turn-based. You face enemy characters in these battles. As you advance through the game, new characters will join your party and naturally become stronger. But if you want more characters, you can spend “Chronos Stones,” which are in-game items. These gems can be earned while playing the game or purchased through in-app purchases. They drop you into the “Interstellar Dream Hall” where you can use a gacha-style system to get a variety of characters.

Another Eden development

Another Eden began its development journey in early 2015, and was first announced during the Tokyo Game Show in September of that year. The game was conceived by Masato Kato, known for his work on games such as Chrono Cross, Xenogears, and Chrono Trigger. The project is developed by Wright Flyer Studios on the GREE, Inc. platform for iOS and Android devices. Kato led the direction and writing of the game’s story and script in collaboration with GREE producer Daisuke Takasaki, who aimed to bring a more traditional JRPG experience to mobile devices, a platform he felt the offering lacked. This experience.

Creating comfortable freedom of movement on button-less mobile devices was a top priority during the development process. The game’s graphics are deliberately kept two-dimensional to accommodate its vast scope and massive story. Similar to the “Chrono” series, “Another Eden” revolves around time travel and incorporates a unique “day and night” theme. The game’s soundtrack was composed primarily by Shunsuke Tsuchiya and Mariam Abunasr, with additional contributions from Yasunori Mitsuda, known for his work on the Xenogears and Chrono series.

The game was originally planned to be released in mid-2016 and was launched on April 12, 2017. An internal test was conducted before the release, and it received strong promotion support from GREE after it was launched. The English version will be released in stages in 2019. Subsequently, a Microsoft Windows port was launched in 2021, and a Nintendo Switch version is in development, extending the game’s reach to various platforms.
