Ayodhya’s Record-Breaking Deepotsav: A Spectacular Sight

This is the first time that Ayodhya is celebrating Diwali with great enthusiasm since the Rama Temple in Ayodhya was consecrated on January 22, 2024.

This Diwali was memorable and historic as Ram Mandir set two Guinness World Records at Deepotsav 2024.

“For the historic first time, Lord Ram finally returns to his abode during Diwali after 500 years,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.

The entire Ayodhya is covered in lights and decorations and thousands of diyas are lit to celebrate the occasion.

The first award was given to 1,121 volunteers and saints who performed synchronized spinning diyas as part of Saryu Aarti at Naya Ghat.

Guinness World Records adjudicators tallied up Diaz, who had been on fire, before announcing the final number around 7:35 p.m.

The second award recognized the display of 2,512,585 oil lamps organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Ayodhya District Administration.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accepted both the awards. More than 2.5 million diya lamps are placed and lit along the banks of the Saryu River, creating a stunning display that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and promotes a sense of unity.

Key Highlights of Deepotsav 2024

There are several major attractions at Ayodhya Deepotsav 2024 that make the event particularly memorable. Here are the highlights:

  • The event aims to set a new Guinness World Record by lighting up 2.8 million (2.8 million) earthen lamps simultaneously along the Salyu River, creating a spectacular visual effect.
  • The celebrations included performances by artists from six countries including Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Indonesia, showcasing a rich range of cultural expressions.
  • Additionally, Ram Leela from Uttarakhand gave a special lecture focusing on scenes from Ramayana.
  • A grand aarti (pootry) was held on the banks of the Saryu river with about 1,100 participants, adding a spiritual dimension to the celebrations.
  • The celebrations begin with the Shobha Yatra, where colorful scenes and artists parade through the streets of Ayodhya. The procession included symbolic statues of Lord Ram and Sita arriving in a chariot after landing from a helicopter.
  • In the evening, a stunning drone show showcased synchronized formations of characters from the Ramayana, complemented by a laser show and three-dimensional projection mapping to narrate key events in the epic.
  • The celebrations culminated in a fireworks display that lit up the night sky over Ayodhya, capping off the grand celebrations.
