Blue Archive Tier List December 2023

December 2023 Blue Archive Tier List

In December 2023, the Blue Archive Tier List provided players with a detailed ranking of the playable character “Students” in the game. These students number more than 100 and are divided into agents and forwards in the game. Special forces play a support role at the rear, helping the forwards engage the enemy.

The tier list divides these students into five tiers: SS, S, A, B, and C, giving players insight into their effectiveness and strength within the current game meta. It serves as a guide, detailing the most powerful and influential characters at higher levels (A and above) and the weaker characters at lower levels (B and C).

Blue Files is a role-playing game developed by Nexon Games and originally released in 2021 for Android and iOS. Set in an academic city called Kivotos, the player takes on the role of a teacher summoned to the city by the President of the General Student Council. However, after the president’s unexpected disappearance, the city faces a surge in criminal activity. Players, along with the remaining members of Congress, take on the responsibility of solving these problems and assisting in the search for the missing president.

In this free-to-play game, players explore the city and take on various challenges while utilizing the gacha mechanic to collect new characters called “students.” These characters have unique abilities and roles that help players maintain peace in Kivotos. Additionally, the game’s immersive world and storyline led to the announcement of an animated adaptation titled Blue Files: The Animation.

Blue Files gameplay

Blue Files offers a tactical role-playing experience where players can assemble a team of up to six members, including two “Commandos” and four “Forwards”. These units are vital for participating in various military operations in the game. Players can strengthen their students in a variety of ways, including leveling up, enhancing their weapons and armor, and improving their skills. Freshmen can be recruited through the gacha system, purchased using in-game currency earned through gameplay, or through in-app purchases.

Battles in Blue Files take place on a turn-based hexagonal map. When a unit encounters an enemy, or vice versa, combat begins. During combat, the vanguard follows a specific path and encounters hordes of enemies. They attack automatically, using cover to reduce the chance of being hit. Spec Ops, on the other hand, provide support from the back line, boosting the forward’s stats without being directly involved in combat. While players generally lack direct control over combat, they can use their students’ skills, which consume regenerative currency.

Combat relies on a rock-paper-scissors mechanism for attack and defense, determining the strengths and weaknesses of students and enemies. If a student’s health is completely depleted, they will be rescued by a helicopter and will be unable to participate in subsequent battles.

Blue File Development

The Blue Files went through a dynamic development process leading up to its release. Yostar originally announced the game in July 2020, with an Android version in closed beta. The game was originally scheduled to be released in 2020, but the release date was pushed to February 4, 2021.

The much-anticipated global version launches later in August 2021, having already accumulated over 1 million pre-registrations ahead of launch. Launched by Nexon on November 8 of the same year, this version supports English, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Thai, expanding its access to a global audience.

To further expand its reach, a simplified Chinese version was announced for release in China in March 2023. Following a statement from Chinese authorities, the game’s website went live, offering previews and launching pre-registration on March 31. After a closed beta in June and July, the game was officially launched in China on August 3 and was published by Yostar. The game continues to develop with the announcement of Nexon in October 2023, with a global version launching on the Galaxy Store for Samsung phones, followed by a launch on October 31st.
