Cameron Jerrell Newton (born May 11, 1989) is an American football quarterback currently playing as a free agent. He holds the National Football League (NFL) quarterback record for career rushing touchdowns and ranks second in career rushing yards by a quarterback.
After finishing his college career with the University of Florida Gators, Newton excelled in football at Auburn University, winning the Heisman Trophy and leading the Auburn Tigers to victory in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game as a junior.

Newton was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL draft and quickly rose to prominence, setting records for passing and rushing yards by a rookie quarterback and winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
