Godzilla and the various monsters associated with him have displayed all sorts of impressive abilities over the years, harboring a wide degree of destructive capabilities. Godzilla is known as the King of the Monsters for a good reason, having faced off against and allied himself with all manner of other kaiju big enough to get their own series. Nothing shows off just how powerful the Godzilla movie monsters are like their strongest abilities, which run the gamut of apocalyptic levels of force.

Some of the strongest techniques available to the various kaiju populating Godzilla’s various eras are special one-off abilities, whose usage necessitates a grand occasion. Others are more reliable pieces of a given monster’s arsenal, being their both their strongest and most-used attacks at the same time. Whatever the case, cities the world over should be grateful they’ll never have to witness the devastating abilities of the Godzilla series’ most iconic kaiju in real life.

The Burning Spiral Heat Ray
Godzilla
Godzilla’s Atomic Breath is a staple of his character. No matter how powerful each form of Godzilla is, they will always be packing the Atomic Breath in one form or another, whether it’s a nasty belch of radioactive flames that condense into a painfully bright heat ray like in Shin Godzilla or a single-shot nuclear cannon that leaves a mushroom cloud in its wake like in Godzilla Minus One. The most powerful iteration of this ability is, by far, the Burning Spiral Heat Ray introduced in Godzilla vs Destoroyah.

Are you excited about Godzilla coming to Fortnite?
It’s recently been announced that the next season of Fortnite will feature Legendary’s Godzilla in some fashion. Personally, I’m hoping it’s more than just cosmetics and that a full-size Godzilla might start roaming the island. That would be similar to Call of Duty: Warzone a few years ago when Godzilla vs. Kong was released in 2021, and I thought that was so much fun.

In multiple films, Godzilla augments his typical Atomic Breath with some other energy source to form the Spiral Heat Ray, exponentially increasing the power of his classic ranged weapon. However, his Burning Form introduces the Burning Spiral Heat Ray, a technique so powerful that it places considerable strain on Godzilla’s unstable hemorrhaging body. This ray is said to increase exponentially in power each time Burning Godzilla uses it, growing hot enough to scald even the nigh-invulnerable Perfect Form of Destoroyah.

Silk Spray
Mothra
As a combatant, Mothra has an odd array of various offensive abilities. While the graceful butterfly goddess doesn’t seem terribly imposing for a kaiju, she’s capable of producing deadly clouds of poisonous yellow spores, generating gale-force winds with a simple flap of her wings, and penetrating the hide of other kaiju like Rodan with a venomous stinger. Whether she’s in her larval form or her adult body, Mothra’s most reliable and effective attack remains her silk spray.
Sometimes, it’s hard to beat an attack as simple but efficient as Mothra’s sticky silk.

Mothra is able to fire spurts of sticky webbing from her mouth in both forms, depending on the continuity, which are excellent at restraining even giant-sized targets. In the Monsterverse, this silk is even strong enough of an adhesive to restrain even the mighty King Ghidorah, who is only freed from the stuff once Godzilla tackles him through the building he’s stuck to. Sometimes, it’s hard to beat an attack as simple but efficient as Mothra’s sticky silk.

Volcano Manipluation
Rodan
Like Mothra, the other staple flier in the Godzilla universe gets his strongest ability courtesy of Legendary’s Monsterverse movies. Rodan, sometimes known as Fire Rodan, is a fiery pterodactyl-like kaiju with an affinity for intense heat, typically living in and around volcanoes. While Rodan is capable of daring aerial maneuvers using his sharp beak and claws, not to mention the ability to belch streams of burning hot fire, his strongest technique involves his home turf.
After being awakened and commanded by King Ghidorah, the Monsterverse reveals that Rodan is capable of erupting volcanoes merely by flying over them. This makes the apocalyptic scene of him decimating a whole city simply by flying over it all the more dire, leaving oozing lakes of lava and choking clouds of ash in his wake. It’s hard to see Rodan as anything less than an infernal, demonic threat after he wreaks widespread havoc with this terrifying power.

King Ghidorah
The Triple Gravity Beam
Sometimes, a given Godzilla monster’s strongest attack is also their most frequently used. King Ghidorah is one of Godzilla’s most classic recurring villains, though his origin varies greatly between continuities, sometimes being a human experiment and sometimes being an alien invader. One thing that remains consistent, however, is his iconic breath weapon, the Triple Gravity Beam.
King Ghidorah is often described as being able to manipulate gravity, flying via mastery over the force itself, rather than actually flapping his wings.
Apparently, this control also somehow allows him to fire intense jets of sickly yellow lightning out of each of his heads. When all three of his heads fire a concentrated beam on the same target, there are few creatures that can stand up to the sheer energy of it, being one of the most damaging yet frequently-used attacks in many Godzilla eras.

Anguirus
The Ball Attack
One of the first monsters Godzilla ever shared the screen with, Anguirus was once the King of the Monster’s enemy, but has since became better known as his steadfast companion and sidekick. A quadrupedal kaiju, Anguirus is known for being tenacious despite his relative lack of power compared to other monsters. Bearing no special powers or hidden secrets, all of Anguirus’ capabilities are plain to see, with his horned face and spiked turtle-like shell providing meager physical weaponry.
At least Godzilla: Final Wars gave Anguirus a fun way to utilize his unique physiology in a new attack. By curling up into a ball, Anguirus allows himself to be kicked by King Caesar like a soccer striker as a deadly projectile, hurtling into Godzilla with alarming speed. Even if Godzilla is able to make short work of this trick, it at least presents more of an obstacle than Anguirus is normally able to pose to any monster.

Gigan
The Stomach Saw

Few Godzilla monsters are as armed to the teeth as Gigan is. An alien invader, Gigan is a bizarre-looking being strapped to the teeth with bio-organic weapons, including a razor-sharp beak, deadly hooked blades for arms, and a crimson visor-like eye that allows him to fire powerful laser blasts. Later upgrades from the Xileans in Godzilla: Final Wars give him even more options, replacing his blade arms with twin chainsaws and equipping him with powerful grappling hooks.
However, Gigan’s most powerful weapon has continued to remain his most obvious one, the circular saw blade embedded into his stomach. With his whining buzz saw, Gigan was famously the first rival monster to get Godzilla to bleed, tearing through the flesh of even the powerful radioactive lizard. It’s safe to say that the strange creature wouldn’t be nearly as threatening without his signature melee weapon, among the deadliest in the entire Godzilla mythos.

Mechagodzilla
The Absolute Zero Cannon
Considering the massive number of different versions of Mechagodzilla that have appeared on-screen over the years in Godzilla’s movies, it’s difficult enough to single out a certain attack as the most powerful. Across the many incarnations of the cybernetic Godzilla clone, the kaiju has wielded laser beams, electric harpoons, finger missiles, and mouth-mounted flamethrowers. Of all the versions of Mechagodzilla, the model also known as “Kiryu” introduced in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla bears the most intimidating attack, the fittingly-named Absolute Zero Cannon.
True to its title, the Absolute Zero Cannon is a massive energy weapon hidden within Kiryu’s chest. Upon activation, the device fires a concentrated beam of pure cryogenic energy that instantly brings its target to the hypothetically lowest temperature physically possible, 0º Kelvin, a.k.a. “Absolute Zero”. This cannon is able to freeze even Godzilla solid on an atomic level, though firing it eats up 40% of Mechagodzilla’s power in an instant.

King Kong
The B.E.A.S.T. Glove
Despite being one of the most famous movie monsters ever, King Kong doesn’t actually have any overt special powers not plainly visible by his simian body. King Kong’s many movie fights have attempted to play his strength, agility, and relative intelligence compared to other kaiju to give him an edge against his more traditionally-armed opponents. The Monsterverse has further bridged this gap between King Kong and his fellow Titans by granting the giant ape access to several new weapons, most recently the B.E.A.S.T. glove.
With this glove equipped, Kong is able to make even a pink energy empoweredGodzilla go lights out with only a few quick punches.
Designed by the eccentric Titan veterinarian Trapper, the Bio Enhanced Anatomech Seismic Thunder glove is a prototype cast and cybernetic enhancement built to help King Kong recover from injury while also giving him a dramatic increase in strength. With this glove equipped, Kong is able to make even a pink energy empoweredGodzilla go lights out with only a few quick punches. Later, the bracer helps him tank the frosty breath weapon of the ancient Titan Shimo for an extended period of time, a testament to Trapper’s design.

Destoroyah
The Variable Slicer
Descended from the weapon that killed the original Godzilla in 1954, Destoroyah is one of the King of the Monsters’ most powerful opponents ever. A being somehow mutated from an ancient form of life revived by the effects of the Oxygen Destroyer, Destoroyah goes through several stages of his life cycle before settling on his “Perfect” form, a demonic-looking kaiju big enough to rival Godzilla. The being welds many powerful weapons, including tusks, energy-absorbing tail spikes, and a deadly Micro-Oxygen Beam.
Yet it’s Destoroyah’s unassuming forehead horn that makes up his most alarmingly powerful weapon. Extending into a lengthy blade of energy, the so-called Variable Slicer is able to make mulch of Burning Godzilla’s torso, nearly killing him in the close battle for domination against the infernal freak of nature. This unique power is among the most deadly of any Godzilla monster.
