As sports and games have advanced, the Olympic Games have also evolved to include more new and exciting events that showcase the talents of athletes from around the world.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, breakdancing was added as an official competition event, bringing fresh vitality to the Olympics.

Breakdancing, commonly known as Breaking, will make its Olympic debut tomorrow at 4pm, with the competition starting with the B-Girls qualifying round at Parc Urbain.

Breakdance vs Breakdance: What’s the Difference?

Breakdancing, also known as hip-hop, is a dynamic, acrobatic street dance that will debut at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Originated in the Bronx, New York City, in the 1970s, breakdancing is characterized by energetic moves, complex footwork, spins, and stunning, gravity-defying freeze-frames.

The inclusion of breakdancing in the Olympics is part of the International Olympic Committee’s efforts to modernize the Games and attract a younger audience. The competition will see athletes known as “break boys” and “break girls” compete and be judged on creativity, technique and musicality.

The Olympic format will showcase both individual and team events, highlighting the artistic and athletic prowess of dancers from around the world. The inclusion of breakdancing in the Olympic Games is a significant milestone for the dance community, bringing global recognition to this dynamic and culturally rich performance form.
