Gruff Rhys 2024 US Tour
Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys will be on a solo tour in the United States from March 8 to March 27, 2024. The tour will promote his latest studio album, Sadness Sets Me Free, which is set to be released on January 26, 2024.

Gruff Rhys is a Welsh musician, songwriter, filmmaker, author and producer born on 18 July 1970 in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales. He is known for his versatility, both as a solo artist and as a member of various bands, most notably Super Furry Animals. Rhys has been active in the music industry since 1988 and is recognized for his unique musical style and contribution to the Cool Cymru movement.

Graf Reese’s early life
Graf Rees was born on 18 July 1970 in Haverfordwest, Wales, into a creative family. His father, Ian Bowen Rees, was a man of many talents – he was a poet, essayist, mountaineer and white druid of Gosside the Bard. Rees’ mother, Margaret Wing Meredith, shared her husband’s love of writing and was a poet herself. Rees grew up with a strong appreciation for Welsh culture and language, attending Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen in Bethesda, Gwynedd, North Wales, and later studying for an Arts degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Reece’s early exposure to music began as a teenager, when he played drums for the North Welsh band Machlud in 1985. He later became the lead singer of Ffa Coffi Pawb, a Welsh-language band that rose to fame during the Welsh cultural renaissance movement Cool Cymru in the UK. His unique guitar playing style, playing the guitar backwards with his left hand, became a signature element of his musical identity.
Graf Reese’s acting career
Gruff Rhys’ musical journey took a significant turn after the disbandment of Ffa Coffi Pawb in 1993. Together with drummer Dafydd Ieuan, Rhys formed the band Super Furry Animals, which achieved mainstream success in the 1990s. The band’s eclectic style, which blended elements of rock, pop and electronic music, won critical acclaim. Rhys’s role as lead vocalist and guitarist contributed to the band’s unique sound.
In addition to his contributions to Super Furry Animals, Rhys has pursued a solo career, releasing albums such as Yr Atal Genhedlaeth, Candylion and Hotel Shampoo.
