What is the ICC Championship Trophy? When is the 2025 edition?

The ICC Championship Trophy is a four-year International (ODI) cricket competition organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Aiming to raise funds for cricket development in non-test countries, it is the eight-ranked team in the world. The first match in Bangladesh in 1998 was called the ICC Knockout Trophy. The name was renamed the ICC Championship Trophy in 2002.

After initially planning to stop the competition after 2013, the International Criminal Court confirmed in 2014 that the championship trophy will return in 2017.

The 2025 ICC Championship Trophy is scheduled to be held in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19 to March 9. However, India will hold a match in the UAE due to political tensions.

Qualified teams are:

  • India
  • South Africa
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Afghanistan
  • England
  • Pakistan
  • Bangladesh

The game will divide the eight teams into two and four groups, and the first two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage.

The group is:

  • Group A: India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa
  • Group B: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, United Kingdom
