You can get Small Rough Animal Hides in Pax Dei from one of two sources: Fox and Rabbit. They are the only Small Game available in the world right now, as all the others (Deer and Boar) are much stronger and drop Rough Animal Hides. Since they are much harder to chase, hunt, and take down, you may have better luck swooping down like a hawk and taking down Small Game.
The difficulty in finding a hiding place is tracking the necessary animals. As you can imagine, rabbits are fast and small. They can be easily moved when walking in the bushes. As for foxes, despite the size difference, they will attack you as soon as they see you.
A fox, with a few prods from a sharp stick, will give you two small, rough hides. Coincidentally, that’s exactly the amount you need!

As you start to unlock other crafting mechanics and resources in Pax Dei (namely leatherworking), you’ll be able to build a variety of workbenches. The three main workbenches here include the Tanning Rack, Simple Tanning Table, and Tanning Table, all of which are necessary for crafting better clothing and basic armor parts.
But it all starts with a small piece of Rough Animal Hide. After you get your first hide, you will gain the ability to craft Rough Animal Hides, and subsequently the two workbenches you need to start producing clothing.
