Final Fantasy 14: Dawn of the Eye quest location
To unlock the “Horoscoper” profession, you need to accept the quest “The Joy of Horoscoper” from the Apathetic Healer NPC in Old Gridania (X:8.0, Y:10.3). You can easily find the NPC by teleporting to the Ether Crystal in the Magician’s Guild.

As the quest progresses, you’ll eventually come across a hopeful Moogle who’s seeking the most valuable future owner of the Pictomancer Soul Crystal. But before they hand over the Soul Crystal, you’ll have to sit down and be interviewed for the job.

Don’t worry, your answers won’t affect the outcome of the mission, they’re just there to make the conversation more interesting. Answer Moogle’s questions during the job interview and complete the mission to unlock Pictomancer.
Requirements for unlocking Pictomancer in FFXIV
To unlock Pictomancer in FFXIV, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have at least one level 80 War/Magic Disciple
- Purchased the Dawntrail expansion pack
Because the quest is located in the starting city, you do not need to have completed the Endwalker storyline to accept it.
Both Pictomancer and Viper start at level 80 when unlocked, so if you’re hoping to complete the Dawntrail MSQ with them, you’ll first need to grind them to level 90. The Painter is the newest magic ranged DPS profession in Final Fantasy 14, equipped with a magic brush and multiple canvases. By drawing various patterns, the Painter can materialize their artistic creations, cast magic and painting spells on enemies.
Casting spells and painting patterns will affect the painter’s canvas and palette meter. Once enough resources have been accumulated, more advanced spells can be cast using white paint and the meter.
