Is Assassin’s Creed Phantoms worth playing?
Assassin’s Creed Phantoms stands out as a visually stunning addition to the famous series. Notably, character models and landscapes have been significantly upgraded, showcasing improved detail and design. Despite these enhancements, the unique essence of the Assassin’s Creed series remains intact. However, a keen eye may occasionally spot something special about the character models, and while the graphics have improved, they may not yet have reached the pinnacle of visual aesthetics in the game world.
Assassin’s Creed Phantoms is not only visually impressive, but it also retains the iconic essence of the series in terms of gameplay and storytelling. The core mechanics familiar to Assassin’s Creed fans are all present, allowing for seamless parkour, stealth assassinations, and engaging combat sequences.

In the last few Assassin’s Creed games, they’ve kind of forgotten about the sneaky assassination thing. Sure, you kill a bunch of people, but it’s more like smashing things to pieces like Kratos than being diplomatic like Ezio or Altair. AC Mirage returns to the series’ roots with a greater focus on quietly destroying enemies, remaining hidden, and having abilities to help achieve this goal.
However, it’s also a bit of a mirage. It looked like it had a cool story and tricky stealth combat, but it turned out to be a run-of-the-mill experience with some technical issues, breezy combat, and a forgettable story.

Assassin’s Creed Phantoms
“Assassin’s Creed Phantoms” is the thirteenth major work in the “Assassin’s Creed” series, developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux Studio and published by Ubisoft. As the successor to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, this game is an action-adventure game. It launches on October 5, 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and will be available on iOS for iPhone 15 Pro models in early 2024.
The game is primarily set in Baghdad during the anarchy of Samarra in the 9th century, and players will follow the journey of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character who first appeared in Valhalla. Basim’s journey from street thief to full-fledged member of the Assassin Brotherhood. The Brotherhood, known for fighting for peace and freedom, opposed the Knights Templar, who sought peace through control. It’s been hailed as a return to the series’ roots, with a greater emphasis on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay, compared to recent entries that have relied heavily on role-playing elements.

Assassin’s Creed Phantoms returns to the series’ roots, emphasizing a linear, story-driven experience with less role-playing elements. Core gameplay includes parkour, close combat and stealth, utilizing a “black box” design to carry out assassination missions. Set in 9th century Baghdad and Alamut, the game’s world is more compact than recent games, focusing on four regions and the Hidden One’s fortress headquarters.
The protagonist, Basim, has an array of weapons and tools that can be upgraded through a skill tree. New features include “Assassin Focus,” a traversal option for simultaneous elimination and use of poles. Enhanced movement animations draw inspiration from samurai, ninja, and Jedi movements.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage plot
Basim ibn Ishaq was a young thief in the city of Anbar during the time of the Abbasid Caliphate. He sees the scary Ginny, which makes him uneasy, but his friend Neil helps him through it. Basim dreamed of joining the Hidden Ones, an organization fighting for justice, but Roshan Anbar’s senior Hidden Ones refused. To prove himself, Basin stole the chest that both the Hidden Ones and the Order of the Ancients wanted. Inside, he finds a strange disk that shows him a vision.
The Caliph interrupts him, and Nihal kills the Caliph and saves Basim. The guards then attack the thieves in Anbar, Basim accuses Nehal and leaves. With Roshan’s help, he escaped to the Hidden Ones’ mountain fortress in Alamut. There, he trained and became an Invisible Man. Mentor Reyhan learned that the Templars were growing in power in Baghdad and sent Basim and Roshan to investigate.
In Baghdad, Basim learns that the organization has infiltrated the highest levels of power and is pursuing ancient artifacts. He hunted down and stopped four Order members. He also reunites with Nihal, who prompts him to investigate further. Basim confronts Kahiba, the last Order member, who hints at the answer in a temple beneath Alamut.
