The cast is star-studded, with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, alongside Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand and Jennifer Garner.
Development on Deadpool 3 originally began in November 2016 at 20th Century Fox, but faced delays after Disney acquired the studio. Eventually, Marvel Studios gained control of the character and began work on a new movie that would incorporate Deadpool into the Marvel Universe.
The film is expected to maintain the R-rating of the previous “Deadpool” movie. The writing team expanded in November 2020 to include Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, who joined Reese from the earlier film Reese and Wernick teams.
Levy was confirmed as director, and additional cast members were announced in early 2023. Filming begins in May 2023 and will take place in London, Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, and Vancouver, Canada.
“Deadpool 3” is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 3, 2024, marking its status in the fifth phase of the Marvel Universe. Fans can expect the same irreverent humor, action-packed sequences, and unique blend of comedy and superhero storytelling that made the previous Deadpool movies so popular with audiences.
Is Wolverine dead in “Deadpool 2”?
In Deadpool 2, Wolverine’s death is not explicitly shown or mentioned. However, it’s worth noting that the events of Deadpool 2 take place before the timeline of Logan, which depicts Wolverine’s death. Therefore, when Deadpool 2 was filmed, Wolverine was still alive and his death had not yet occurred in the narrative.
In “Logan,” which is set in the year 2029, Wolverine faces illness in his old age that ultimately leads to his death. However, the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie takes place before these events and therefore could include a younger version of Wolverine.
Through time travel and the existence of different timelines, the character of Wolverine was resurrected in “Deadpool 3”. So, in the context of Deadpool 2, Wolverine isn’t dead, but his death in Logan is a major event that happens later in the timeline.

While “Logan” depicts Wolverine’s death, “Deadpool 3” takes place before these events, allowing us to witness a younger version of Wolverine. The introduction of time travel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company has opened up new possibilities for crossovers and storytelling.
In Deadpool 2, the character Deadpool uses a time travel device to “clean up” the timeline, which sets the stage for Wolverine’s return in Deadpool 3. Deadpool and Wolverine have a long history in the comics, and their on-screen pairing is highly anticipated by fans.
Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, has confirmed that Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine, further fueling excitement among viewers. Hugh Jackman’s decision to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 was influenced by Ryan Reynolds’ persistence and the opportunity to explore new approaches to the character.
Jackman mentioned that Marvel now has a device to navigate across timelines without disrupting established events. This device is likely the same one used by Deadpool in Deadpool 2, ensuring that Wolverine’s return in Deadpool 3 doesn’t interfere with the Logan timeline, something the actor will need to consider an important factor.
Wolverine’s return in “Deadpool 3” is made possible through time travel and the existence of multiple timelines within the MCU. By setting the events of Deadpool 3 before the events of Logan, a younger version of Wolverine can be presented without changing the established narrative.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the on-screen chemistry between Deadpool and Wolverine, and the film promises to be an exciting entertainment experience when it hits theaters on May 3, 2024
