Following the events of the previous films, the Creepers reappear three days later and continue their eating spree. On the 22nd day, it kidnapped little Billy Taggart in front of his father, Jack Sr., brother, Jack Jr., and their loyal dog, Mike. The next day, a school bus carrying a high school basketball team and cheerleaders was hit with a handmade shuriken made from bone fragments, causing a tire to burst.
Minxie Hayes, one of the cheerleaders, saw the horrifying sight of Billy Taggart and Darry Jenner trying to get on the crawler causing another tire to burst, Warn her before causing the bus to get into trouble. The Creepers took the opportunity and kidnapped bus driver Betty Borman and coaches Charlie Hanna and Dwayne Barnes. Here’s the question: In such a small county with no traffic on the main roads, would anyone notice that 300 people were missing? Jack Taggart pondered this question as he studied the side of the screen, wondering if his son’s disappearance was related to the nearby massacre that occurred every 23 years.
The purpose of the film is to scare the audience with the unexpected attacks of the creepers. However, in this genre, such sudden surprises are expected, causing the viewer to evaluate the craftsmanship rather than experience true horror. Still, the makeup and costume department, including Richard Radlefsen, known for his “Creeper Makeup and Protagonist Suits,” deserve praise. Although the creature is capable of jumping and flying, it’s still unclear why it was named “crawler.” Likewise, the reasons why Francis Ford Coppola decided to make the film remain uncertain.
