Master Quality Settings:

  • The main quality is not important as this guide will customize individual options.

Display Mode:

  • Select “Borderless Window” for seamless Alt-Tab switching when playing ARPG games.

brightness:

  • Set the brightness to Medium or High depending on the default gamma setting of your monitor.

Vertical Sync:

  • Turn off VSync in the game. Use the graphics driver’s built-in VSync instead.

Limit FPS:

  • Enable FPS limiting, usually matching the refresh rate of your monitor for optimal performance.

Limit Background FPS:

  • If using full screen, set to 15 FPS. For borderless full screen, set to 30 FPS.

Shadow Quality:

  • Select Very High or Medium. If you can’t consistently hit 60 FPS, avoid setting it higher than Medium.

Detail Shadows:

  • Enabling this option enhances visual detail without noticeably affecting performance.

Texture:

  • Select Medium. Going from Low to Medium texture resolution can provide a noticeable visual improvement.

Anti-Aliasing:

  • Select TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing) to reduce jagged edges, but it will soften the overall appearance.

Grass Density:

  • Maximize to Full. This option has a minimal impact on performance.

Reflection:

  • Set to Medium. Quality improvements above this setting are not noticeable.

Ambient Occlusion:

  • Choose the Medium preset, which covers all AO features without incurring excessive performance cost.

Volumetric Lighting:

  • Select Medium for a balance between visuals and performance.

SSR(Screen Space Reflections):

  • Set to Medium. As of now, higher settings may not provide noticeable visual enhancements.

Terrain Quality:

  • Select High, given the high amount of time you spend looking at the ground during gameplay.

Previous Era

Last Epoch is an Early Access hack-and-slash action RPG developed by Eleventh Hour Games (EHG). The game’s journey began in April 2018, when a free playable demo was released as part of Last Epoch’s Kickstarter campaign. Subsequently, in April 2019, a beta version was opened through Steam Early Access. A full release was initially planned for April 2020, but was later rescheduled to Q4 2020, marking a shift in the game’s timeline.

It is worth noting that in October 2020, the developer announced the cancellation of the Mac client due to the expected challenges of Apple’s switch to ARM-based processors. After that, in December 2020, EHG announced another delay, pushing the release of Last Epoch to 2021. In March 2023, the multiplayer beta version was launched, and in October 2023, it was officially confirmed that the full version of the game will be released on February 21, 2024.
