Minecraft 1.20.3 Pre-Release 1 Patch Notes

technological changes

  • Packet version is now 26
  • Resource pack version is now 22
  • Changes to download/world resource pack handling

World resource pack

  • Changes apply to world resource packs (resources.zip), realm resource packs, and resource packs controlled by dedicated servers.

user interface

  • The download screen has been replaced with toast
  • The world resource pack application will launch with chunk loading

local storage

Downloaded packages are now stored in the download directory (file organization is different from old server resource packages)

  • Files in this directory are no longer automatically cleaned (previously only up to 10 packages were kept)
  • Additionally, there is a log file log.json in this directory that stores information about downloaded files for debugging purposes

server configuration

Downloaded packages now have unique IDs (GUID/UUID) that can be used to distinguish them

  • This value for dedicated server packs can be configured using the resources-pack-id option in server.properties
  • If this value is missing, it will be generated based on the URL
  • If the package’s hash is not set, the package will be re-downloaded before each application
    • Previously, if the hash was missing, the most recently downloaded package version would be applied

data pack

Added some additional options for third-party server software:

  • Clients can now accept multiple server resource bundles
  • Add new package to cancel application server resource package
  • Resource bundles are no longer cleaned up when entering the configuration phase

Packet version 26

  • Renamed “minecraft:grass” blocks and items to “minecraft:short_grass”

Resource pack version 22

  • Renamed “minecraft:grass” blocks and items to “minecraft:short_grass”

  • MC-266456 – Breeze on minecarts or boats is passive
  • MC-266468 – Breeze cannot attack in deep water
  • MC-266472 – Charged creeper/wither armor renders incorrectly

Minecraft gameplay

In Minecraft, you can explore a large world filled with blocks. You can do a lot of things like dig, build, and make things from scratch. The world never stops and you can find all kinds of materials to use. There are different ways to play, such as survival, where you have to hunt for food and protect yourself from monsters, or creative, where you can build anything without worrying about running out of materials. You can also team up with friends or play alone, fighting monsters or just building cool stuff together. It’s all about being creative and doing whatever you want in this blocky world.

Games give you the freedom to create anything you can imagine. You start with nothing and gather materials through mining, felling trees, and even farming. Using these materials, you can craft tools, build shelter, or craft complex structures. Whether you want to build a towering castle, delve into dark caves in search of treasure, or create a bustling city, the decision is up to you.

You’ll encounter different creatures on your adventure – some friendly, some not so friendly. You decide how to interact with them, whether to fight them or befriend them. Minecraft is all about using your imagination and creativity to build and explore a world that you shape.
