The Roadies format was originally created by Nikhil J Alva, founder of Miditech Studios. Miditech Studios produced the first two seasons of the show, and Alva envisioned the format as a way to unite India’s youth through social work and contestants doing good across the country.
Due to the show’s growing popularity, MTV took over production of Roadies from Miditech after the second season. Raghu Ram and Rajiv Ram, former employees of Miditech Studios, were entrusted to produce and host the show for MTV. Under their guidance, the show underwent a significant transformation from its original feel-good and socially oriented tone to a more confrontational and direct approach.
In 2014, Raghu and Rajiv decided to quit the show, saying they had played a vital role in its popularity and wanted to provide opportunities for a new generation to take the show forward. With a history of 17 years, Roadies is one of the oldest reality shows in India.
Throughout the course of the show, there will be votes out, votes in, eliminations and unexpected twists that could change the rules of the game. Ultimately, the contestant who emerges from the voting and wins in the finals will be the winner. Sonu further introduces a new mission that has the potential to change the game completely once again. Gautam was so impressed by the task that he exclaimed, “I told you, those who have the right intentions will never be wronged.”
