Milk Day History and Origins
Milk Day was first held in 1878, organized by Dr. John Ross of Chicago, Illinois. Ross launched an initiative to spend a day promoting the importance of milk as a healthy drink. Children and adults have been drinking untreated or contaminated milk. National Milk Day is celebrated on November 26 every year. The day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the “Father of the White Revolution” in India, who played a major role in India becoming the world’s largest milk producer.
