One subscription = one agency manages everything so you don’t have to subscribe on multiple platforms. With a single subscription, you get access to all the content and services you need, simplifying your experience and saving you time and energy.

The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme is a major initiative approved by the Government of India to increase access to academic research articles and journal publications across the country.

The program aims to democratize access to academic resources for students, faculty, and researchers at higher education institutions, specifically benefiting those in underserved areas.

A unified portal will be established to facilitate access to these resources, simplifying the fragmented subscription model currently used by agencies

The initiative will provide seamless access to more than 13,000 journals published by 30 international publishers through a single platform.

Additionally, it will be managed by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET). In addition, it will benefit approximately 18 million students, teachers and researchers at more than 6,300 government-run higher education institutions and research institutions.

The total budget allocated by the government for 2025, 2026 and 2027 is Rs 6,000 crore.

in conclusion

The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative aims to benefit students in tier-II and tier-III cities in India by increasing their access to quality educational resources.

By providing access to more than 13,000 scholarly journals from diverse international publishers, the program democratizes access to high-quality research materials that were previously inaccessible due to financial constraints or lack of institutional subscription.

This initiative helps level the playing field between urban and rural institutions, ensuring students in smaller cities have the same resources as their peers in larger metropolitan areas.

Additionally, the variety of topics offered by these journals enables students to explore topics that align with their academic and career interests, while staying up to date on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, which is crucial for improving employability.

The program will also strengthen local educational institutions by improving curriculum and teaching methods and promoting collaborative opportunities with researchers and scholars around the world.

Additionally, better access to educational resources can equip students with critical skills that are increasingly in demand in the job market, thereby encouraging entrepreneurship and contributing to local economic growth.

ONOS has the potential to transform the education landscape for students in tier-II and tier-III cities, promote equitable access to knowledge, and support a more educated and skilled workforce across India.
