NHL 24 Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes

Gameplay

Mix control updates:

Community Feedback: The removal of the hybrid control option makes it difficult to play the game for users who need to be able to perform core actions on the controller’s face buttons.

– Mixing controls have been reintroduced as an option in the Control Settings menu.

– Hybrid controls allow users to use face buttons to perform core actions such as shooting, passing and hitting.

– Hybrid controls feature the same controller mapping as NHL23, with some modifications to support the core gameplay changes of protecting the puck and reverse hitting.

Goalie Controls Update:

Community feedback: Senior user goalkeepers believe that the Tether control system is too restrictive and hope to be able to control goalkeepers like NHL23. Additionally, removing backup controls and forcing auto-hugs removes other aspects of control that veteran goalkeepers are accustomed to.

User goalie control settings have been expanded in the Control Settings menu.

Goalkeeper controls can be set between “Default” or “Alternate”

Default = original control layout

ALTERNATE = swap butterfly, hugging post, instinctive positions. (NHL23)

Goalkeeper tether can be set to on/off/mixed.

ON = Tether remains the same as on startup.

Off = Tether is disabled.

HYBRID = Tether is disabled in Butterfly mode

Hugging post can be set to automatic/manual

AUTO = Aiming LS at the goalpost will automatically engage the goalpost.

Manual = The user must hold down the manual hug post button while aiming the LS at the post to enter the hug post.

Goalkeeper fatigue system:

Community Feedback: Goalkeepers performing desperation dives may stay with themselves for too long, making the goalkeeper less responsive to situations.

– In emergencies, goalkeepers will now transition from a desperate side position back to a seated position, and from the seated position they may return to a butterfly or stationary position.

– This helps create more urgency for goalkeepers while allowing them to make desperation saves in the future or recover to butterflies or setups more quickly.

Stick Lift Updates:

Community Feedback: Defensive players performing stick lifts are likely to be penalized.

– Stick lift aiming has been updated to aim lower on the opposing player’s stick, which reduces the chance of being penalized.

General bug fixes:

Community Feedback: The community helped identify some core bugs that impacted the gameplay experience.

– The visual passing icon will now appear when the ball is in backhand/forehand control.

– Fixed a rare bug that could cause the user’s goalkeeper to spin in place when moving.

– Fixed a rare physics bug that could cause the game to go out of sync.

General

– Fixed an issue where the credits for the song “Do It Faster” were displayed incorrectly.

Chel’s world

– Fixed a bug that caused the single/three-elimination tournament leaderboard to not display the ranking correctly.

– Fixed a crash that occurred when transitioning back to a custom tab from the “Thank you for pre-ordering EA Sports NHL 24” screen in the WoC Player Rewards screen.

– Fixed a crash that occurred when equipping a badge in the Chel world creation area and then discarding the changes.

– Fixed a bug where scrolling back and forth quickly in the Battle Pass would cause the instant reward tile frame to become corrupted.

– Fixed an issue where special character boosts were not showing up in the attribute graph when the user was in the locker room.

– Fixed an issue where users were not being taken to the post-match locker room when using 1v1 matchmaking.

– Fixed a bug where temporary goalkeepers who quit a match would not be replaced by the AI character.

creative area

– Fixed a game crash that occurred when setting logo and branding in “Create Extended Team” and “Create Team”.

– Improved scrolling speed in the “Player Details” menu in the creation area of the main menu.

– Fixed a bug where creating a defender in an offline creation zone and leaving its player category as Defending Defender would cause the wrong category to be displayed after the player was created.

– Fixed an issue with the keeper’s glove/catcher geometry distorting and clipping when recoloring.
