The 2024 Paralympic Games are finally here, opening today in Paris, France and running until September 8. This will be the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, with thousands of athletes competing for medals in a wide variety of sports. 2024 Paralympic Games opening date and ceremony
The 17th Paralympic Games kicks off today with an Opening Ceremony like no other! Instead of a traditional stadium, the event will take place at the iconic Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées, featuring 4,400 Paralympic athletes. The athletes will parade along the famous avenue, culminating in a grand celebration at the iconic square, witnessed by thousands of spectators. The women’s programme will include a record 235 medal events, eight more than in 2020. With the addition of mixed events, female participation is expected to reach a record high, at least double the number at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games.
