Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gameplay

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an action-RPG where players control an “Arisen”, a hero tasked with defeating a dragon while exploring the game world, completing quests, and fighting monsters. Players are aided by AI-controlled allies called “Pawns” who assist in combat and guide players through their quests. Each player can customize their Arisen and Pawn characters, choosing from a variety of genders, appearances, and races.

Characters in the game belong to different “classes”, which determine their abilities and equipment in combat. Awakened and their minions can switch between classes, with choices ranging from basic to advanced classes. The game offers new hybrid classes, such as the Mystic Spearman and the Trickster, each with unique abilities and weapons.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set in a vast open world four times larger than its predecessor. There are two main kingdoms in the game, Weermond and Batar, inhabited by humans, beastmen, and elves. Players can use ferry stones and ox carts to travel quickly and set up camps to rest at night. The game contains dynamic events and day and night cycles, which will affect the gameplay, such as changing the strength of the creatures encountered.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Development

Directed by Hideaki Gono, Dragon’s Dogma 2 aims to improve upon the game’s mechanics and reintroduce features that were previously cut due to technical limitations. Gono said that while the sequel may not introduce many new concepts, it focuses on enhancing and improving existing elements to create a more immersive role-playing game and action-adventure experience for players. Based on feedback from players of the first game, the team increased the amount of dialogue for Pawns. Gono mentioned that inspiration was drawn from Grand Theft Auto V during development, especially in terms of designing the game world and emerging gameplay.
