Saud Shakeel: The Rising Star of Pakistan Cricket! A Role Model for Young Cricketers

Saud Shakir, a Pakistani international cricketer and current Test vice-captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has received a congratulatory letter from right-handed top-order batsman Babar Azam for his outstanding performance against Bangladesh in the recent Test match in Rawalpindi.

The star Pakistan batsman and Saim Ayub’s half-centuries helped Pakistan get back on track on the first day of a shortened but still exciting first Test match in Rawalpindi. Despite bowling just 41 overs, Bangladesh started strongly, reducing Pakistan to 16/3, but the home side fought back to finish the match at 158/4.

On the second day of the match, Shakir scored his third century, reaching an important milestone and cementing his position as an important player in Pakistan’s batting line-up. After only 41 overs on the first day, Pakistan finished at 158/4 with Shakir not out on 57.

On the second day, Shakir expertly turned his half-century into a century as the Bangladeshi bowlers found it difficult to control him. He scored his century in the 78th over against Miraz when he hit a fly ball out for two runs and his hundred.

Early life and career

Saud Shakir is a Pakistani international cricketer who was born on 5 September 1995 in Karachi, Pakistan. In 2007, he first caught the attention of Azam Khan, who was then the head coach of Quetta Gladiators.

Azam allowed Saudi to practice with senior players, which eventually led to his association with the Pakistan Cricket Club and mentorship from top cricketers like Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq.

Saudi made his first-class debut in 2015 and quickly rose to become a key player in domestic cricket, finishing as the top scorer in multiple Quaid-e-Azam Cup seasons.

His consistent performances earned him a spot in Pakistan’s squads, and he made his Test debut in 2021. By 2023, Shat not only scored his first Test century, but also made his World Cup debut, where he performed well, including winning the Man of the Match award against the Netherlands.
