How to climb a cliff quickly?

Climbing cliffs quickly in this mini-game is a little tricky, but here’s a simplified guide:

  • Start in the right spot: The game clock starts when you touch the cliff directly below the first red Koopa Shell, not when you step on the shell itself.

  • Jump Between Shells: Quickly jump from one Red Koopa Shell to the next. The key is to wait for the shell to hit the next one before stepping on it.

  • Mistakes to avoid: Be careful not to jump into the cannonballs above Mario’s head, as this will cause him to fall over. If you miss a jump or fall onto the cliff below the first shell, it’s best to restart the game.

  • Quick Maneuver: Move quickly from the cliff to the first shell. On the second cannonball, wait for it to pass under the cannonball above Mario, then jump to the third cannonball. Repeat this pattern with the fourth and fifth shells. Jump to the sixth shell as fast as you can.

  • Final Jump: Jump to the last cannonball so it starts rising toward the finish line. When it rises, jump up the cliff to reach Sergeant Flatt.

  • Prizes and Time: Sergeant Flatt will tell you the time to reach the top. If you complete the climb within 11:30, you will receive a Frog Coin. Finishing under 11 seconds earns you the Soldier Badge, which seems to be the main prize of this mini-game.

Remember, it’s all about speed and precision in jumping between projectiles to get to the top as quickly as possible!

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a role-playing video game developed by Square and published by Nintendo in 1996 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Directed by Chihiro Fujioka and Yoshihiko Maekawa, produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, and with music by Yoko Shimomura, it was the last Mario game on the SNES.

The story follows Mario and his friends as they try to defeat the Blacksmith Gang, who have invaded their world and scattered the seven star fragments of Star Road. It was the first Mario role-playing game, featuring turn-based combat and isometric 3D environments. Critically acclaimed for its humor and graphics, it inspired games such as Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. The Nintendo Switch remake was released on November 17, 2023 to positive reviews.

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars combines elements of Square’s Final Fantasy series with the familiar Super Mario Bros. platformer. Gameplay revolves around two main aspects: adventure and turn-based combat. The game’s design is reminiscent of traditional Japanese role-playing games (JRPGs).

In the adventure portion, the game adopts an isometric 3D platformer style, showcasing classic Mario features such as hitting question blocks. Unlike typical JRPGs, there are no random enemy encounters. Enemies are visible on the battlefield and will only start combat when Mario makes contact, allowing players to avoid unnecessary fights.

Starting with Mario alone, the team can be expanded to five characters, with up to three characters participating in the battle. Characters like Toadstool, Geno, and Bowser bring unique attacks and abilities to the team. Toadstool Princess focuses on healing, while Geno and Bowser unleash powerful offensive moves. The turn-based combat system includes action commands, the effects of which can be enhanced by pressing timed buttons during attack or defense.

Players can choose options from the combat menu to attack, defend, run, use items, or cast magic. The introduction of action commands, which required timed button presses, became a staple of later Mario role-playing games, adding an interactive layer to the traditional turn-based system.
