Who is Tyler Myers?

Tyler Paul Myers (born February 1, 1990) is a professional ice hockey defenseman who plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Myers was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round (12th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft and won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie at the end of the 2009-10 season.

He is the tallest active player in the NHL. Originally known as “Big Easy” or “Big Tex” because of his birthplace of Houston, Myers joined the Vancouver team and fans gave him the nickname “Chaos Giraffe”.

Born in Houston and raised in Calgary, Myers has also had an impressive career representing Canada internationally, winning gold medals at prestigious tournaments such as the 2008 IIHF World U18 Championship, the 2009 World Junior Championship and the 2023 IIHF World Championship.
