Unicorn Overlord is an upcoming tactical role-playing game created by Takafumi Noma in 2014 and developed by Vanillaware. The game is published by Atlus and will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on March 8, 2024. The storyline unfolds in the war-torn continent of Fevrith, where the exiled prince Alain strives to reclaim his kingdom from the Zenoiran Empire led by the rogue general Valmore.

Unicorn Overlord Gameplay
In the game Unicorn Overlord, players will play as the exiled prince Alan, leading an army of soldiers across the charming kingdom of Fevrith. Gameplay includes exploration, where players guide Alan through the world, visit towns, interact with services such as blacksmiths and merchants to equip their army, and participate in story-driven and optional combat.
The world is filled with spirits representing enemies, and players can roam freely, deciding the order in which to deal with events. In addition, towns offer side quests and events to collect materials, allowing Alan to strengthen his relationships with other characters.
Combat in Unicorn Overlord unfolds in real time, with players being able to move around a vast battlefield and being triggered by encounters. Players can pause during combat to strategize and inspect their units. Teams consist of up to six characters with specific classes, each of which affects their abilities on a grid-based battlefield. The game introduces a resource called Valor, which is earned by completing battles and determines the number of units that can be deployed.

Various character classes have different attack ranges and skills, adding depth to the strategic aspect of the game. Combat proceeds automatically based on character attributes and the actions set by the player, with the result being victory or defeat. “Unicorn Overlord” offers players three difficulty options and even an online multiplayer arena that unlocks after a certain point in the story for more challenges.
