Vampire Survivors Update 1.7.0 Patch Notes and More

vampire survivor

Vampire Survivor is a video game created by Luca Galante (aka poncle). It launches in 2022. You can play on computers (such as macOS and Windows), Xbox, Android phones, and iPhone. It will also be released on Nintendo Switch in August 2023.

In the game, you control an auto-attacking character. You must fight off waves of monsters and survive as long as possible. As you play more, you’ll unlock new characters, weapons, and special items.

Even though the game is called “Vampire Survivor,” you’re not actually fighting vampires. Monsters are different.

The game has received critical acclaim at different awards including the Golden Joystick Awards, New York Game Awards, and DICE Awards. It was also nominated for five British Academy Games Awards, winning two: Best Game and Game Design.

Full spoilers:

Stage: albino

It’s a 20-minute bonus stage, so it’s not particularly challenging most of the time. Enemies move very slowly and take extra damage from fire weapons, which is why you might want to save your next pepperoni for when the boss appears. Funny snowmen will block your path, but may also drop tons of gold coins and everyone’s favorite pickup: Orologions.

As you can tell from the unlock conditions, this isn’t a post-game stage like TinyBridge/BatCountry/AstralStair, so it’s fairly easy. If you reverse it…

Relic: Chaos Altemana

Allows the character O’Sole Meeo to transform when reaching level 80. It gains some minor stat boosts and evolves its Celestial Dust into Profusione D’Amore.

Weapon evolutions will still shoot flowers, but these flowers will also bounce off the sides of the screen. It also produces floating leaves that occasionally bloom into a chain reaction of destructive explosions.

Relic: Antidote

Allows you to purchase Defang PowerUp.

Reinforcement: German side

The very cheap PowerUp reduces the difficulty a bit. Makes some enemies completely unable to deal damage. These enemies have a green tint and can be disabled in the options.

Weapon: Glass Fandango

Can be picked up in Whiteout and unlocked for every other run by upgrading it to level 7. Attacks are faster and face-oriented when moving, and have standard delay and full-range attacks when stationary. Deals extra damage to frozen enemies. Gain bonus areas during the time freeze triggered by Orologions. Full Wings are required to evolve into a Celestial Martial Spirit.

Weapon Evolution: Celestial Blade

There is a chance to cause a critical hit and freeze the enemy. Changed Orologions’ time freeze: Enemies appear frozen and do no damage as usual, but continue to move towards the player. Causes continuous damage.

New character: She-Moon Eeta

Start with a glass fandango. Slightly defensive due to high armor and movement speed. Has a “CriticalHP skill” that triggers when her maximum health drops below 25%: she triggers a 10-second freeze in time, just like the Orologions.

CriticalHP skills will only be restored when the character recovers all HP. CriticalHP will not be triggered if the character is hit hard enough to kill them.

Vampire survivor gameplay

In Vampire Survivor, you can choose from one of many characters, each with different weapons and bonuses. You can then control your character on a stage that repeats and changes automatically.

Your character’s weapons attack automatically, and your main goal is to stay alive as long as possible while dealing with waves of monsters. If these monsters touch you, they will hurt you. In order to become stronger, you must defeat these monsters and explore the stage to find special things, such as experience gems that help you level up, “floor chickens” that heal you, and other useful items.

As you level up, you can choose from three to four new weapons and passive power-ups. However, once you take six weapons and six power-ups and make them as powerful as possible, you’ll only gain gold coins or more floor chicken as you level up.

You can also enhance your weapons and power-ups by opening treasure chests. These chests are dropped by very powerful monsters and may contain one, three, or five random items. Additionally, most weapons can become even more powerful through what’s called their “Ultimate Form” if you open the chest after making the weapon as powerful as possible and meeting certain conditions.

Each game session in Vampire Survivors has a soft time limit of 15 or 30 minutes, depending on the stage you choose. When the time is up, all the monsters disappear, and a super enemy called “Death” appears. After that, another “death” arrives every minute, making things more difficult. If you meet or exceed the time limit, you win the session and get some extra coins.

During the game, you can use the coins you collect to unlock new characters and special abilities to take with you. If you complete some challenges, you can unlock new levels, weapons, and characters to make the game even more exciting.
