In the booked caste (SC) classification of the 2025 Booking Act, there are 56 different groups in the larger SC community in Telangana. The government now divides the 56 groups into three smaller groups. This is because people naturally want things to be fair. The government realized that some of these smaller groups were not helped by other things, even if they were all considered SC. So they made this change to ensure everyone has a fair chance, so the governor agreed to the bill, which was passed by the state legislature last month
This new approach to grouping people will help the government determine where they will get reserved in schools, work, and even politics. For Telangana, this is an important step in trying to make everyone more equal, especially for those in the SC community that have never benefited as much in the past.
Which Indian country became the first to implement the SC subcategory?
Telangana became the first Indian state to implement the SC subcategory. The Telangana government considered the contents of the Supreme Court’s decision in August 2024 under the seven-judge Constitutional Judge of the Supreme Court led by former Chief Justice Dychandrachud, which was notified on the president’s list with the aim of extending the “cream layer principle” to arrange castes and arrange castes and arrange branches.

How many categories are performed in the SC subcategory?
The Telangana government considered data on the social, economic, educational, employment and political status of the community; this was conducted in three groups to implement the rules of retention. According to the data, 15 sub-plays were classified as most lagging and have been classified as Group I, with 1% retained.

Who will benefit from the SC subcategory?
According to Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, he mentioned that if the number of people belonging to the SCS increases in the number in 2026, the number of reserved locations will increase.
He also said that from now on, when the government hires jobs, they will categorize the SC community in this new way. Minister Reddy encourages young people in these communities to take advantage of these opportunities. However, he clarified that this new classification system does not apply to the vacancies that have been announced.
Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha also helped lead the groups that decide these categories, explaining that most of the smaller groups in the SCS (33 of 59) are the same as before. Only a few of these smaller groups (26, about 3.43% of the total SC population) have been transferred to different categories.
in conclusion
Telangana’s new SC classification is a long-awaited move initiated on Ambedkar’s birthday, reflecting the basic human desire for fairness. Recognizing the benefits of imbalance among SC groups, this regrouping aims to make everyone more equal in their opportunity, making Telangana a pioneer in fighting for true equity.
