Who is Dan Morrissey?
Daniel Morrissey, born on April 20, 1993, is an Irish pitcher who plays as a left back for the Alhane Club. He also represented the Limerick senior hurling team in inter-county competitions.

Dan Morrissey’s early life
Morrissey comes from Castleconnell, County Limerick, where he was born. His brother, Tom Morrissey, was also a player for Ahane and Limerick senior hurling teams.

University
While attending the University of Limerick, Morrissey was selected to represent the college’s senior hockey team. On 11 March 2015, he received a Fitzgibbon Cup medal as UL defeated Watford Institute of Technology 2-18 to 1-14 in the final replay at Páirc Uí Rinn.

Morrissey became a member of the Alhane club at a young age and progressed through the levels, playing in youth and underage competitions, eventually joining the senior team.

Minors and under 21 years old
Morrissey initially represented Limerick at minor level, making his debut in the Munster Championship against Clare on 25 June 2010, losing 1–17 to 2–12. In 2011, he once again got the opportunity to play in the minor leagues, but unfortunately, the season ended with a 17-4, 15-3 loss to Watford.
Morrissey then moved to Limerick Under-21 Hockey Team. He made his debut on 18 July 2012 against Tipperary, losing 1-16 1-11. Despite playing for the team for three consecutive seasons, Morrissey failed to record any wins during that time.
Advanced
Morrissey made his senior debut for Limerick on 23 February 2014, when he came on as a substitute for Gavin O’Mahony for the final 12 minutes of a National Hockey League match against County Antrim at the Gaelic Grounds. On 12 March 2017, Morrissey scored his first point for Limerick in a comprehensive 6–33 to 1–19 victory over Laois in the National League.

On 31 March 2019, Morrissey was selected as left wing-back for Limerick’s National League Final match against Watford at Croke Park. He received a winners’ medal as Limerick won 1-24 to 0-19. On 30 June 2019, he added a Munster Championship medal to his collection as Limerick defeated Tipperary 2-26 to 2-14 in the final, with Morrissey playing at left wing-back .

Morrissey secured his second consecutive National League medal as Limerick beat Clare 0-36 to 1-23 in the delayed final on 25 October 2020. Later in the season he won another Munster Championship medal, this time at full-back in Limerick’s 0-25 to 0-21 win over Watford in the Munster final.
