Who is Hassan Mahmoud?
24-year-old Hasan Mahmood has won praise from fans and cricket experts alike since making his international debut in March 2020. Mahmood, who mainly plays in white-ball competitions for Bangladesh, made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in early 2024. His impact was immediate, taking five wickets for the first time in the second Test against Pakistan and playing a key role in Bangladesh’s 2.0 series win.

Prior to the Chennai Test, Mahmood had picked up an impressive 14 wickets in three Test matches at an average of 25. In limited-overs cricket, he has taken 30 wickets in ODIs and 18 in T20Is. Mahmood emerged from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) age-group system and joined the Chittagong Under-16 team in 2015 from Lakshmipur in the Chittagong division. His talent was fully tapped and he stood out in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup with a stellar performance of 9 wickets.
