Duleep Trophy 2024: Riyan Parag is an Indian international cricketer who represents India in limited-overs tournaments. He is an all-round batsman and became the youngest player to score 50 runs in the IPL at the age of 17 years and 175 days.

The right-handed batsman recently made headlines as ace batsman Virat Kohli called him a future match-winner for India while handing over his ODI debut cap to Riyan Parag on Wednesday, August 7.

Who is Riyan Parag?

Parag was born into a sportsman family in Guwahati, Assam, India on 10 November 2001. Talking about his personal life, his father Mr. Parag Das was a first-class cricketer who represented Assam, Indian Railways and East Zone Cricket Team.

His mother, Mithoo Barooah, was a national record holder in the 50m freestyle and represented India at the Asian Championships and the Singapore Games.

Due to his natural athleticism, Parag made his debut for Assam on January 29, 2017 in the 2016-17 Inter-State Twenty-20 Championship.

He was probably the youngest player to make his debut for India at the age of 14. However, the Assam selectors were at odds with the state’s then coach, Sanath Kumar.

He made his debut for Assam in the 2017-2018 Ranji Trophy on 17 November 2017. With this debut, he created history by becoming the first Indian-born FC cricketer in the 21st century.

One of the key batsmen in the 2024 Duleep Trophy

India’s men’s domestic league 2024-25 will kick off with the Duleep Trophy, which will be held from September 5 to September 22, with many international players expected to participate. Parag will represent the A team led by Shubhman Gill.

Duleep Trophy 2024: Player Lists for All Teams

As the Duleep Trophy tournament will begin on September 5, 2024, the Indian cricket team will be divided into two teams: Team A and Team B, which will play against each other in a round-robin format.

The match will be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, while India C and India D will play in Anantapur.

Additionally, Shumban Gill will captain Team A. During the Sri Lanka tour, Gill was picked as the vice-captain of the Indian ODI and T20I teams, which increased the possibility of him taking over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma.

Besides, KL Rahul, who recently captained the Indian team in the three-match format, will be the captain of the B team in this tournament.
