Gentleman Jack

Gentleman Jack is a historical drama set in Yorkshire in the 1830s, created and written by Sally Wainwright. The series was co-produced by BBC One and HBO and premiered in the United States on April 22, 2019, and in the United Kingdom on May 19, 2019. Lister’s life was recorded in her diaries, which contained over four million words written in code, revealing her lifelong lesbian relationships. The diaries were decoded and transcribed by Helena Whitbread. The series was originally renewed for a second season, to air on BBC One from April 10 to May 29, 2022, and on HBO from April 25 to June 13, 2022. However, HBO decided not to continue production of a third season in July 2022.
