The 2024 World Chess Championship, officially known as the 2024 World Chess Championship hosted by Google, will currently be held in Singapore from November 25 to December 13, 2024.

The opponents in this tournament are the defending world champion Ding Liren of China and the challenger Gukesh Dommaraju of India. The latter is only 18 years old and is the youngest challenger in history.

World Chess Championship 2024: Tournament format and structure

Competition format: The championship game adopts a best-of-14 games system. A player needs to score 7.5 points to win the championship. Point rewards are as follows:

  • Draw: 0.5 points per game
  • Loss: 0 points
