In MW3 Zombies, Unstable Rifts can be found by activating three pillars on the Urzikstan map. These pillars will randomly spawn in each game, but players can check for fixed locations.
Your best bet is to have your team search the map with a vehicle or Scorcher to get around quickly. Here are some of the places these pillars may appear:
- Located next to the Dark Aether Rift, where players can obtain the Hold Magazine
- Press F5 in the courtyard of the building where the road begins
- Use the Golden Mask filter in the 3rd level area near the Dark Aether Rift at coordinates E4
- Press F6 in front of the Bad Signal portal coordinates
- Located near a large building in a level 3 area between coordinates F3 and F4
- Coordinate D4 Freight near the central highway of Uzbekistan
- The coordinates of the cargo entrance to Uzbekistan are E3
- Coordinates H4 is located outside the lower city of Level 2 area
- The parking lot next to the football field is located at D5.
- Coordinates E7, located at the parking lot near the highway in Zaravan Suburbs
- Coordinate B5, where the evacuation point often appears
- Coordinate I5, where extraction points often appear
- Market between H5 and H6 coordinates
- Located south of Shahin Manor between coordinates H7 and H8
The player can only activate a seal column if they have equipped the corresponding ammo mods shown on the column (including Brain Rot, Cryo Freeze, Dead Wire, Napalm Blast and Shatter Blast). The seal will form a circle around the column, and the player must use weapons equipped with ammo mods within the circle to kill zombies.
After completing any three pillars in a match, an Unstable Rift will appear on the map marked by a red circle. Regardless of who activated it, any team on the map can enter it on their own after voting.
How to complete the Unstable Rift in MW3 Zombies

Unstable Rifts consists of five waves of zombies in a small arena. The zombies are powerful creatures from the ancient Aether Rift, and players have 45 minutes to complete the event.
It’s best to assemble a full team of three to six players, all equipped with the highest-level Pack-A-Punched weapons, Legendary Aether Tools, and other illustrated items to have a chance of winning. Each wave throws more special zombies at you, but each wave also spawns a Bonus Rift containing items such as Killstreak Bonuses and Self-Resurrection Kits.
