First, you need to get some sapwood, which is available pretty much everywhere. There are lots of tree branches scattered around the world, and you can just walk up to them and pick them up, no tools required. You can only get two or three pieces, though, but we’ll get to that later.
Use a building hammer or craft one if you haven’t already. While using a building hammer, look for a wooden chopping block in the crafting tab. Craft and place a wooden chopping block. Interact with the wooden chopping block and find wooden planks. It only takes 10 seconds to craft a wooden plank, so you can use 10 sapwood per crafting to get 10 wooden planks.
To get Sapwood as quickly as possible, you should make a basic carpenter’s workbench and craft a Gneiss Stone Axe with 2 Sapwood and 1 Gneiss. Use the Gneiss Stone Axe to chop down some trees, and you will get 10 Sapwood per tree. Large trees yield more, but take more time to chop down.
