Karnataka Budget 2025: ₹4.09 Lakh Crore Allocated For Infra Growth & Development

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed his 16th budget on Friday. The full amount allocated to Karnataka Budget 2025-2026 is Rs 4095 crore.

The Karnataka Budget budget allocates Rs 51,034 crore for the five guarantee schemes promised by the Congress government. Here are the key points of Karnataka Budget 2025–2026:

Karnataka Budget 2025: Key Announcements

Capital Investment

  • Rs 820,000 crore has been allocated to capital expenditures.
  • Karnataka is the highest-ranking state in capital investment.

GST and income: Alcohol prices can be reviewed and increased to match neighboring states.

Retention and Benefits: 4% of Muslim bookings were introduced in government contracts and tenders.

Community Development

  • Rs 10 billion have been allocated to the development of Jana, Buddhist and Sikh communities.
  • Rs 250 crore is put on hold for the development of the Christian community.
  • The Sannati Development Authority will be established in Chittapura, Kalaburgi, as the historic Sannati Buddhist Center.

Religion and Community Welfare

  • Temple Priests’ annual salary increased from Rs 60,000 to Rs 72,000.
  • Jana priests, chief Grantis (Sikh leader) and Pesh-Imams (Muslim leader) increased to Rs 6,000 per month.
  • Grantis Assistant and Muezzins will now receive Rs 5,000 per month.
  • A new building will be built in Haj Bhavan, Bangalore for use in Haj Pilgrims and their families.

Media and Language Development: Karnataka will launch its own OTT platform to promote Kannada language programs.

Women and children’s welfare

  • Rs 94,084 crore has been used for women-centric programs.
  • Rs 620,33 crore reserves a child-centric scheme.
  • National scholarships for foreign students increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

Ethnic welfare and infrastructure

  • Youths of ethnic minority groups will be supported to start new businesses through Karnataka Minority Development Corporation.
  • Rs 150 crore has been allocated to repair and renovate WAQF property, improve infrastructure and protect Muslim burial sites.

Entertainment and Public Welfare: Ticket prices for all theaters, including multiple theaters, will be limited to Rs 200 per show.

Media and journalists support

  • The monthly pension for troubled journalists increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000.
  • The family pension has been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,500.

Karnataka Budget 2024: The main announcements of Bangalore

Infrastructure and urban development

  • Rs 70 billion have been allocated for the overall development of Bangalore.
  • Rs 18 billion were reserved for 21 projects under the Bangalore brand initiative.

Transportation and transportation improvements

  • The 40.5 km double-decker overpass and the construction of Namma Metro Phase 3 Rs 3 crore to reduce traffic congestion.
  • A new 300km road will be developed for Rs 300 crore using the canal buffer to improve connectivity.

Metro and public transport: Bangalore metro network will be expanded to 98.60 km, improving connectivity, including to Devanahalli.

Urban Planning and Infrastructure: A new satellite market will be established in the outskirts of Bangalore to ease congestion in the urban market.
