Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Released on GOG with a 40% Discount

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the latest game to join GOG’s DRM-free catalog, and it’s a very welcome addition. It’s one of PlatinumGames’ best hack-and-slash games, and it’s still a blast to play.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance GOG version released

The GOG version is essentially the same as the Steam version, with no new additions as far as we can tell. This includes all three DLC missions: Blade Wolf, Jetstream, and the VR mission, as well as Raiden’s customization options, including White Armor, Hell Armor, Commando Armor, Raiden’s MGS4 body, and Cyborg Ninja.

The lack of any additional improvements means you’ll have to do some tweaking just like you did with the Steam version. Firstly, the game won’t run above 1080p, which can be fixed with the MGROverride patch. The game also runs at 59 FPS instead of 60 FPS, which can be fixed with the SilentPatch.

Despite these issues, the game is still fantastic and runs great on Steam Deck. The GOG version is currently 40% off until July 11, 2024. That brings the price down to $17. It’s also 40% off on Steam as part of the Summer Sale.

Currently, this is the only game from PlatinumGames available on GOG, but we see no reason for them to release other PC versions like Bayonetta, The Wonderful 101, Vanquish, and NieR: Automata.

Unlike PlatinumGames, Konami has a large number of classic games on GOG, and this random removal from the platform may be a move by the publisher.

We hope that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is ported to modern consoles and that the resolution and overall texture quality are improved. This is an incredible action game that deserves to be played on modern platforms because it still sticks with older consoles, which makes PC the best version despite the uneven port.
