Who is PJ Harvey?

Polly Jean Harvey (born 9 October 1969) is an English singer-songwriter known for her ability to sing, guitar and various instruments. She began her career in 1988 with the band Automatic Dlamini and later formed PJ Harvey in 1991, releasing critically acclaimed albums such as Dry and Rid of Me.

After the trio disbanded, Harvey continued to create as a solo artist, collaborating with musicians such as John Parrish, Rob Ellis, Mick Harvey and Eric Drew Feldman. Since 1995, she has released ten studio albums, working extensively with producer Flood. Harvey has received numerous honors, including two Mercury Prizes, for songs such as Tales from the City, Tales from the Sea and Let England Shake. She has been nominated for eight Brit Awards, eight Grammy Awards and three Rolling Stone Awards.

Rolling Stone magazine named her albums Rid of Me, To Bring You My Love and Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea among the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2011, she made history as the only artist to win the Mercury Prize twice. Harvey was awarded an MBE in the 2013 Birthday Honours for her contribution to music and in 2011 she won the NME Music Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

PJ Harvey reveals 2024 North American tour

PJ Harvey has officially announced a North American tour to promote her latest album, I Inside the Old Year Dying, in the fall of 2024. The tour will kick off in Washington, D.C. on September 11, and will visit New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, and end in Los Angeles on October 14. The full schedule is below.

To coincide with the tour announcement, PJ Harvey released a new music video, “Seem an I,” directed by Colm Bairéad and starring British actress Ruth Wilson. The video was shot at Kennel Farm outside of Salisbury, England. Previously, Harvey shared concert footage from her October 13th show at L’Olympia in Paris, and she also performed a Tiny Desk concert in November.

Prior to the North American leg of the tour, PJ Harvey will play European festivals including Primavera Sound, Roskilde Festival, Rock Werchter and more. Tickets for these dates are available here. Tickets for the North American leg of the tour will be available for pre-sale on Live Nation starting February 28th and will go on general sale through Ticketmaster starting March 1st.
