The 13 Year Wait for Ace Attorney Investigations 2 is Finally Over

Rejoice, Ace Attorney fans: Ace Attorney Investigation 2 is finally getting an official English release after 13 long years. The original Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworth was released on the Nintendo DS in Japan in 2009 and in North America in 2010. Unfortunately, its sequel, Ace Attorney Investigation 2, wasn’t as lucky. The game was released in Japan in 2011, but never saw any kind of official localization after that. That all changes on September 6, 2024, with the Ace Attorney Investigation Collection, which brings Ace Attorney Investigation 2: The Prosecutor’s Gambit to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.

It’s worth waiting for Ace Attorney 2 to be officially released, as the collection includes a ton of new features that enhance the experience. The high-definition sprites and artwork that were previously exclusive only to the Japanese mobile port are combined with classic Nintendo DS sprites, and players can choose between the two depending on their preferences. The “Story Mode” feature from previous Ace Attorney collection games also makes a comeback. In Story Mode, the game plays automatically, which is great for people who replay the game to experience the story. It can also be used to get through tricky parts of the game, but at the cost of not being able to unlock any of the associated honors, or achievements, from the collection version.

Additionally, there is an art gallery with official illustrations and pre-production art, and a music player where you can listen to great songs from the game. This collection adds five new arrangement tracks that can be listened to in the music player or set to play during gameplay. One of these tracks is the iconic Pursuit theme from the original Ace Attorney Investigations, which will surely be a treat to hear in the game. Players who pre-order this collection will also be able to download an additional five arrangement tracks from Ace Attorney Investigations 2.

This is a truly landmark moment in Ace Attorney history. In just a few months, all of the games in the series will be available in English and on current-generation consoles. It’s been a long eight years since the last mainline game in the series, Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice, came out, but bringing the entire series up to date like this more than makes up for not having brand new games.
